The bathroom is used intensively and therefore needs regular cleaning. Because optimal enjoyment can only be achieved with a clean bath and shiny tiles. The step-by-step plan below will help you clean and keep the room clean.

Step 1: Keep the bathroom dry and ventilate

One of the most important steps in cleaning and maintaining the bathroom is to keep it dry and ventilated during and after use. Especially in the shower room, you should pay attention to this. This will help you prevent mould in sealants and joints. By applying this every time, you will enjoy a clean bathroom for a long time.

Step 2: Cleaning tiles

Tiles that are not cleaned regularly lose their beauty. Therefore, clean tiles at least once a week with a tile cleaner. It contains no soap or oil and prevents dirt from sticking to the tiles. Moreover, it prevents foot or hand marks. There is an acid-free maintenance product for natural stone tiles. These tiles are more sensitive in terms of maintenance and therefore need a special natural stone cleaner.

Can't see any stains? Then just mopping with water is enough. Mop small areas for the cleanest result and then rinse the wet floor with warm water. For wall tiles, wiping with a damp cloth is often sufficient.

Tip: don't forget the joints!

Joints also need occasional cleaning. The larger the tile, the fewer the joints. And fewer joints means less cleaning work. For discoloured white joints, use a toothbrush and some diluted bleach. Leave for a while and then rinse again with water. This will immediately make your bathroom look a lot cleaner.

Step 3: Bath cleaning

Nothing beats a nice hot bath after a long day at work. To fully enjoy this, it is important that it is always fresh and clean. This will keep your bath in top condition and give you years of enjoyment.

Before you start cleaning, check what materials your bathtub is made of. With acrylic and mineral marble, the use of abrasives and caustic products is not recommended. These attack the surface and cause scratches, dull spots, discolouration and other damage. With solid surface, we also recommend not using abrasive products, except to remove stains on the bath.

Some useful maintenance tips by material type:

  • Solid surface: scratches and dirt are easily removed with scouring cream and damp, fine sandpaper.
  • Mineral marble: with mineral marble baths, it is important to remove stains from, for example, hair dye or make-up within 18 hours. The bath also retains its shine by having it car-waxed once a year.
  • Acrylic: shiny acrylic baths also lend themselves perfectly to an autowax treatment. So you can continue to enjoy a dazzling bath. Do user scratches develop over time? Then the material can easily be polished and the bath looks like new again.

After each use, we recommend rinsing the entire inside with cold water and then wiping with a soft cloth. This prevents limescale deposits. It is also important to clean the Bath regularly with Maxaro total cleaner. This removes limescale, soap residues and skin fats and leaves a protective layer. This keeps your bathtub, built-in bath or freestanding bath clean for longer.

Step 4: Cleaning the shower area

To keep your shower area as clean and hygienic as possible, we recommend rinsing it with water after your shower. Remaining dirt and soap residues are easily removed. To prevent limescale deposits, clean the entire shower area with a shower squeegee and a soft, dry cloth. Clean the showers regularly with Maxaro total cleaner and a damp cloth. This product removes limescale and soap residues and also leaves a protective layer.

The shower screen

Most shower screens have a Nano-Tech coating. This has a water- and dirt-repellent effect, reducing limescale and soap residues. This keeps your shower cleaner for longer. It is also advisable to frequently treat the surface with a Maxaro surface protector. This should be applied with a dry cloth and rubbed out well. Always dry the shower screen after use for optimal results. Maxaro's shower squeegee will help you do this.

Shower tray

Keep the shower tray clean by rinsing it with cold water after use and then drying it with a soft cloth. Maxaro's total cleaner is a useful aid for this. For an SMC shower tray, simply polish away light user scratches with polishing wax. This is also ideal for getting rid of dull surfaces. This gives the surface a shiny finish again.

The shower drain

To prevent blockages and keep your shower drain flowing optimally, it is advisable to clean it regularly. The removable parts of your shower drain such as the hair filter, siphon and grate should be removed regularly and cleaned of hair, soap residue and other debris. Rinse them well with water and wipe with a soft damp cloth. Use Maxaro total cleaner with some regularity.

Descaling the shower head

Regular descaling of the shower head with Maxaro cleaner will ensure a full jet of water when showering. For plastic hand and rain showers, a finger movement removes accumulated limescale thanks to the silicone spray holes. Dry the shower head with a soft towel after every shower. This will prevent limescale build-up, reducing the need to clean it.

Step 5: Bathroom unit, basin and countertop wash basin cleaning

Dry your countertop wash basin and countertop wash basin after use for the cleanest possible result. In addition, our advice is to use Maxaro Total Cleaner with some regularity. This product is suitable for cleaning ceramic, glass, mineral marble or solid surface. For the vanity unit, cleaning with water is sufficient.

Natural stone surfaces should be cleaned with a special product for natural stone. Choose a non-aggressive, acid-free cleaner that does not dissolve limescale. Cleaning agents that dissolve lime affect the natural limestone in natural stone.

To keep your bathroom unit as fresh and clean as possible, wipe the outside of the base unit and basin worktop daily with a soft damp cloth. For a thorough cleaning of the outside, it is recommended to use Maxaro's total cleaner in combination with a soft cloth every week.

Step 6: Maintaining taps and accessories

When cleaning taps and accessories, it is important to avoid abrasives. Instead, choose gentle products such as green soap or total cleaner from Maxaro to clean them weekly. Do not use scouring sponges or microfibre cloths, these contain small hooks that can cause scratches. Always dry the tap with a towel or leather chamois after use, this will prevent limescale from adhering to the surface.

Step 7: Cleaning mirrors

Wipe your mirrors daily with a soft and dry cloth. This will help you keep the glass surface as clean and hygienic as possible. In addition, it is advisable to regularly clean the entire surface with total cleaner from Maxaro. This way you will always enjoy a flawless mirror. Electrical parts and external mirror lighting should be cleaned with a dry cloth. These should not come into contact with water.

Step 8: Cleaning the toilet

Keep your toilet clean by removing residual dirt with a toilet brush and flushing after each use. All our toilets are fully glazed. For general cleaning on the inside of the toilet, use toilet cleaner. Stubborn limescale and other dirt can be easily removed with Maxaro's total cleaner. Clean the outside of your toilet or urinal with a damp cloth and total cleaner.

Tip: choose a low-maintenance toilet

An Easy clean toilet makes cleaning easier than ever. This one has no rim, so you will not be bothered by limescale or dirt build-up. So you clean your toilet quickly and hygienically. Another convenient feature is the quick-release technology. With a simple click, you detach the seat from the toilet. This eliminates difficult and inaccessible corners during cleaning.
