Sealing shower cubicle? The real tips

Once your shower cubicle is installed, it still needs to be sealed. And that is a very precise job. Our step-by-step plan will help you with this.

Once your shower cabin has been installed, it still needs to be sealed. This is very important because it ensures that your shower cubicle will soon be watertight. For this job, use silicone sealant for sanitary fittings, as it has been specially developed for use in bathrooms. Sanitary sealant adheres well in damp spaces, so make sure you really use this type of sealant!

Tips & tricks for kitting your shower enclosure

Kitting is not difficult, but it is a very precise job in which a number of things are important. We at Maxaro would like to give you some handy tips.

  1. Remove dust and grease from the surface to be sealed.
  2. Stick masking tape on both sides along the joint.
  3. Cut open the tip of the sealant tube, avoiding the thread. Screw the loose nozzle onto the tube.
  4. Place the tube in the sealant gun. Cut the nozzle at an angle and make the opening about as wide as the seam to be caulked.
  5. Holding the sealant gun upright, spray the sealant between the tape and make sure the layer is about the same thickness everywhere.
  6. Smooth the sealant with your finger (dipped in some soapy water) or a sealant spoon.
  7. Then wait 10 minutes and remove the excess sealant by smoothing down the seam.
  8. Finish the sealant joints in such a way that no water can remain on the edge. This way, the fungicidal effect of the sealant is guaranteed for the longest time.
