The average Dutch bathroom is not that big. There is often enough space for a shower and bathroom furniture, but a bathtub or toilet unfortunately do not always fit. So how do you make optimal use of the available space, make the bathroom seem larger - or at least not smaller - and ensure a fresh look? With these 10 tips, you can turn even small rooms into a nice and tidy palace. After all, decorating a small bathroom does not have to be a problem.
Tip 1: Make choices
First think about which items you really want in the bathroom. Do not overfill a room, as this will make it look even more cramped. You will understand that a luxurious whirlpool or steam cabin, a freestanding bath and a large double walk-in shower do not fit in a small space. Instead of opting for a small shower, a small bath and a small bathroom cabinet, make choices and opt for a nice spacious shower or a lovely bath and a nice bathroom cabinet with storage space. You will find that a nice walk-in shower offers more comfort and luxury than a cramped shower cubicle combined with a small bath.
Do you still want a bath and shower in a smaller bathroom? Then opt for a combination: a bath in which you can also shower. Once you have the basic furniture in place, it's easy to see how much space is left for other things. Think, for example, of storage space and accessories.
Tip 2: Use light colours
When decorating your small bathroom, go for light colours. Keep not only the floor and walls, but also the furniture, as light as possible. Dark or bright colours will only make a room look smaller. Do you still like bright blue or black in the bathroom? Then stick to details like taps and towel rails.
