Step 2. Demolish the old bathroom
To realise the dream layout, it is necessary to make space for your new bathroom. To do this, the bathroom needs to be completely gutted. Demolish all the plumbing and then the tiles. When doing this, keep in mind the pipework to avoid hitting the pipes. By removing the tiles with care, there is little that can go wrong.
Step 3. Relocate pipes
Have you chosen a different layout for your new bathroom? Then the pipes need to be moved first. Note that this is precision work. Using the wrong coupling will cause a leak. Don't have any experience in laying pipes? Then call in a plumber.
Tip: take a photo of the pipes. That way you will know exactly where they are after the renovation.
Step 4. Move electrical wiring
If necessary, move or join the sockets. To do this, you need to move the electricity cables. Then make sure that all parts in the bathroom that can conduct electricity are earthed. If you have little experience with electricity, we recommend hiring an electrician.
Step 5. Install the drain
Before you seal the floor, it is important to fit the shower drain. Have you chosen to install the shower directly on the tiles? Then this is the time to install the shower drain. You can easily adjust the gutter to the correct height using the adjustable feet. After laying the water pipes, check that there are no leaks.
Step 6. Check the substrate
All the preliminary work is done. Now check whether the floor and walls are level. If the surface is uneven, first level it. Make sure at all times that the levelling compound is suitable for the bathroom. Furthermore, a waterproofing set is essential, especially in the shower area. Use the kit to make this watertight before you start tiling.
Step 7. Lay the tiles
Tiles are a perfect base for a bathroom. They are easy to maintain and waterproof. Moreover, quality tiles last a lifetime. When tiling, use clips and chocks. These ensure that the tiles are placed at the same height, and the joint is the same width everywhere.
