Stap 1. Designradiator of handdoekradiator

Step 2. Steel or aluminium

A steel radiator has a long lifespan and retains heat well. When your home is connected to district heating, the water in the central heating pipes has a different degree of acidity than tap water. As a result, you will always rely on a steel one. These days, aluminium radiators are hugely popular. This material does not rust and has a high heat output. As a result, you can usually make do with a smaller model. Moreover, an aluminium radiator is extremely durable and environmentally friendly. After all, it can be completely recycled.

Step 3. Electric or central heating

A central heating radiator is heated by means of water that flows in from your central heating system. The large surface of the radiator then transfers the heat from the water to the air in the room.Electric radiatorsare not heated by a gas-fired central heating boiler, but by an electric heating element. This can be controlled by a remote control with thermostat function. The ideal solution when there is no central heating connection in the room.

Please note: an electric radiator is a model with an electric heating element as accessories. Without this element, it is a normal radiator that can be connected to the boiler. At Maxaro, you will find a wide range ofradiatorssuitable for an electric element.

Step 4. Output requirement and limited output

To make the right choice, it is essential to determine the power requirement of the room in which the radiator will be placed. The power requirement is the amount of heat a radiator needs to emit. It depends on the dimensions of the room and the desired temperature.

With electric radiators, we talk about the limited output. This is not the output of the radiator, but the maximum power consumption of the heating element to heat the radiator. These are snapshots until the water in the radiator reaches the required temperature.

Step 5. Radiator colour

Radiators are available in different colours, such as white, grey and black. Do you want it to stand out? Then go for a colour that contrasts with the wall against which it is placed. For example, consider ablack radiatoron a white wall. If you choose a colour that matches the walls, you will actually get an inconspicuous heat source in your home. There are also grey radiators that radiate elegance thanks to their subtle shimmer.

Step 6. The radiator valve

The type ofradiator valveyou need depends on how you place the radiator and how the supply and return of the central heating system enter the room. If these come in through the wall, you will need a double-angle radiator valve. If the pipes come from the floor, a radiator valve with a straight connection is sufficient.

With a double right-angle connection, determine whether it should be delivered with a right-hand or left-hand thermostatic tap. Are the connection points of the radiator in the middle under the radiator and is the left pipe the supply pipe? Then choose a left-handed one. Naturally, you should choose a right-handed model if the supply comes from the right pipe.

A horizontally positioned radiator with the supply and return coming from the wall needs a radiator valve set with a single angled connection. This set consists of a thermostatic tap that connects the supply pipe to the radiator, and a foot valve that connects the return pipe to the radiator.
