With these 4 tips, you are guaranteed to choose the perfect shower enclosure

In your new bathroom, you want to install a shower cabin. But what kind of shower should it be? And how big and with what features? With these four tips, you are guaranteed to buy the shower cabin that suits you best and you will enjoy it every day.

1. Sliding or opening doors

If you are remodelling a small bathroom, you will no doubt consider the limited space a challenge. You will quickly gain space by choosing a shower or shower cabin with a sliding door. That way, you don't have to consider the space that needs to be left free when opening and closing a regular door. However, bear in mind that a sliding door often has a smaller opening than a normal door. If it is a double sliding door, however, this is not so bad. Do you have all the room you need? Then a French door is obviously an option. But even then, think about what is important to you: the space you need could also be used for a toilet, bidet or extra-large washbasin, for example. What do you expect to enjoy more?

2. Shower tray or shower enclosure on the ground

You can install a shower enclosure in two ways: on the floor or on a shower tray. First of all, it is a matter of taste: which do you like better? People who like ease of cleaning are more likely to choose a shower tray. It repels water and soap residues better than, say, a tiled floor. It is also often easier in terms of installation, as the enclosure and shower tray are fully matched and the parts therefore always fit. Do you want the look of your floor and wall to extend completely into the shower? Then it is absolutely wonderful to install the shower enclosure on the floor. Just keep in mind that you need to make sure the water flows in the right direction, i.e. to the drain or shower drain. You can use a sill to stop the flowing water. When mounting the shower enclosure on the floor, always pay attention to the surface. It should be completely level!

3. Shower enclosure: with or without integrated shower

Generally speaking, the shower enclosure is the shell within which the actual shower is placed. In other words: the structure and the glass. However, there are also shower enclosures in which the shower is integrated. These are often luxury showers with, for example, massage jets, ceiling shower and mirrors. Maxaro also has these complete shower cabins in its range. Think carefully about your own showering behaviour and your wishes in this area: are you someone who showers quickly and efficiently or do you really like to enjoy the shower? In the latter case, such a complete shower is really fantastic!

4. Shower enclosure size

The size of the room is crucial when choosing a shower enclosure, but so are your shower habits and the size of your family. Do you have small children who shower together? Or do you love it yourself? Or are you currently on your own or just the two of you, but would like a family in the long run? Then the Shower may become the central focal point of the Bathroom and you should take it as the starting point for the design of the rest of the bathroom. In a small house or flat, the emphasis will undoubtedly be more on an efficient layout. In most cases, the shower enclosure will be located in a corner, as this will give you the most room to move around and thus make the best use of the space. So determine the size of the shower primarily on the factors of space and intensity of use.
