Most of our tiles are made of ceramic. Ceramic is known for its long life, low maintenance and colourfastness. It can be produced in countless colours and styles. Within our range of ceramic tiles, we distinguish between porcelain and ceramic. The difference is in the type of tile. Porcelain is only suitable for floor placement and ceramic for wall placement. Porcelain tiles are referred to as 'floor/wall tile', while ceramic tiles are referred to as 'wall tile'.

We also offer a selection of natural stone tiles. Natural stone is an organic material that offers unique textures and colour variations, giving each tile an exclusive look. Natural stone is known for its durability and timeless aesthetics, making it a beautiful choice for a variety of spaces.

Tiles are produced at different times and each production is known as a 'shade'. While tiles may vary slightly in size or colour per production, this is not the case within the same shade. The same shade is always used for each product in your order. However, you may receive tiles from a different production if you wish to purchase the same tile at a later date. Therefore, always check whether the same shade is still available. That way, you can avoid size and colour discrepancies. Also check yourself before installing the tiles whether they all have the same shade code.

With rectified tiles, the sides of the tile are ground at right angles after the firing process. All tiles from one production are therefore exactly the same size. With non-rectified tiles, the tiles have not been subjected to this additional grinding treatment, giving them a slightly more rounded edge.

The choice between rectified and non-rectified tiles depends on your personal preference, with some preferring the sleek result of rectified tiles, while others find the rustic effect of non-rectified tiles more attractive. However, the difference has nothing to do with the quality of the tiles.

With rectified tiles, you have the option of applying very narrow joints of 2 mm because there is no size difference. With non-rectified tiles, we recommend a joint of at least 3 mm.

The anti-slip value of a tile is also called the R-value. It indicates the slip resistance and risk of slipping of a tile, ranging from R8 (lowest slip value) to R13 (highest slip value). The R-value can be used to determine which rooms a tile is most suitable for.R9 is the standard for ceramic floor tiles and is minimally recommended for bathroom use. All floor tiles in our range therefore have at least this value.

Keep in mind that the higher the R-value, the stiffer the tile becomes, which makes cleaning more difficult as dirt adheres better to stiffer tiles.

The capital letters PEI combined with a number indicate the wear resistance of a tile. PEI is the number of revolutions of a standardised wear device. This is a test in which a rough surface is mechanically 'abraded' over the tile. This simulates intensive walking over the lifetime of the tile.

Based on this test, the tile is graded on a scale. The scale runs from 1 to 5. A tile with PEI 1 is only suitable for very light use, while a tile with PEI 5 is suitable for very intensive use.

Only floor tiles can be installed on both floors and walls. Wall tiles only are not suitable for the floor. Floor tiles have a different thickness and wear resistance. A floor tile in a living room or kitchen should be able to withstand sliding chairs, for example.

When installing a floor tile on the wall, do bear in mind that a floor tile is harder and stronger than a wall tile. This requires good tools, the right drilling technique and a quality tile cutter.

These tiles are difficult to joint, allowing moisture to get between them. This results in mould and water damage. In addition, the tiles are less easy to keep clean due to their relief structure.

Tiles are generally considered debris by most waste management companies. Rubble includes hard stony materials. If you want to dispose of tiles, you can dispose of them in a clean debris container. You can also dispose of them in a bulky waste container or a construction container. Most construction sites do have a construction container available.
